Company Overview

On May 4, 1955, an article was published in our local newspaper that cause Maysville Volunteer Fire Department to grow into what it is today

In 1956, we moved into our newly built station with 1 Engine, a 1949 Dodge. Shortly after, we added a 1968 Ford Pumper from Findlay Fire Equipment in Ohio and a small personnel carrier, a 1964 International Travel-All purchased used from Petersburg Fire Department approximately 1974. Then in 1977 they purchased a 1977 Ford Tanker truck. As time went on our community began to grow. They built an addition to building in 1977. They built Dinning Hall and two more truck bays around 1984/1985. Sometime in the early 80's they added a 1958 Dodge Brush truck from the WV DNR. Also added a 1977 Dodge Box Ambulance used as and equipment truck obtained from Grant Co Commission. Sometime in the 80's they got another Ambulance for an equipment truck. In about 1988 they purchased a 1987 GMC Heavy Rescue Truck from Deer Park, Maryland Fire Department. Besides updating firefighting equipment, the company was busy raising funds to purchase a Class A engine in 1968, and another one in 1986.

Today we have 8 pieces of apparatus, which includes an Engine, Engine-Tanker, Tanker, Brush Truck, Brush/Tanker, Attack/Rescue, BLS Response/Personnel Carrier and an Ambulance. Also, we have 31 dedicated male & female firefighters and handle approximately 300 emergency calls a year.

In 2009, we added a new fire station that houses our apparatus and firefighters equipment. This fire station has 2 offices, a classroom and computer lab.

In July of 2011, our old station, which we held our fundraisers and public events, was hit by a devastating fire. With the help of our dedicated members and mutual aid companies, we were able to save a good portion of it. With countless hours and dedicated members, we now have a newly remodeled banquet hall.
